These women, hailing from the wealthiest and most powerful noble houses, have systematically secured positions of power—within merchant guilds, the city’s ruling council, arcane institutions, and even the criminal underworld—all with one singular purpose: to reshape the Sword Coast under their rule.
The origins of the Raven Lords remain shrouded in secrecy, though rumors suggest the order began centuries ago, formed by noblewomen who grew weary of being relegated to mere political pawns in a male-dominated hierarchy. Initially a secret alliance for self-preservation and influence, the Raven Lords evolved into a society of master manipulators, using charm, wealth, and subterfuge to ascend the corridors of power.
Some believe that their earliest members were the wives and daughters of Masked Lords, using their proximity to Waterdeep’s secret rulers to orchestrate the city’s fate from behind the scenes. Over time, their influence spread beyond Waterdeep—first to Baldur’s Gate, then Neverwinter, and now into the courts of Amn, Luskan, and even the pirate lords of the Nelanther Isles.
