Matilda, the Blade of Silence

In the world of The Castlemere Chronicles, where alliances shift like sand and danger lurks in every shadow, few names are spoken with as much fear—and fascination—as Matilda. Assassin. Enigma. Ghost.

Once a noble of the elven courts, now the deadliest dagger in Blackwing’s hand.

Matilda is an elven assassin operating deep within the criminal underbelly of Faerûn. She’s not just a killer—she’s a phantom, a myth wrapped in silence and steel. Every movement is calculated. Every strike, deliberate. She doesn't waste breath on threats. When she’s sent after you, the only warning is the cold steel at your throat.

With long silver hair often braided with obsidian beads, violet eyes that never blink, and armor stitched for silence, Matilda looks like someone carved from the night itself. Her dual daggers are carved with infernal runes spoils or symbols of a pact long since sealed. Matilda is a creature of discipline. She speaks little, observes everything, and strikes with terrifying precision. Emotions are tools to be manipulated, not indulged. She is not heartless—just weaponized. If you think she’s hesitating, you’re already dead.

During the events of The Castlemere Chronicles, Matilda assassinated Fabian, one of the story’s core adventurers. No theatrics. No hesitation. Just a clean, quiet end. It was a defining moment in the campaign—a stark reminder that in Castlemere, death moves in silence.

Born to nobility in the elven kingdom of Myth Norvael, Matilda's life was shattered after a failed political coup ruined her house. Rather than be executed or exiled, she disappeared. Some claim she made a pact with darker forces for the power to survive and return with a vengeance. She reemerged as a top operative for Blackwing, a guild of assassins known for accepting impossible contracts—and completing them.
